Butter Cake

The Moose held up his glass at dinner and smiled his usual, "I am the King of the Five Year Olds" grin.

He commanded all of our attention through a series of grunts and continued grunting until even his  kid brother was paying full and eager attention.

"Let's do a buttercake.", he announced.
The best way to describe our faces is to say this incredibly intelligent word: Heh?
Again, he repeated it. "Let's do a buttercake!"
He motioned with his glass that we should all raise up our cups and cling them together.
"Do you mean a toast?"
He thought for a moment. "Ah, yes.", he stated, "I knew it had something to do with butter."

This was two weeks ago. Since we have been doing frequent buttercakes at our family table.

A buttercake to you, Finn, for going three minutes without  yelling "no" repeatedly just because you can.

A buttercake to you, Mussie, for only asking to quit our school lesson and watch TV five times today rather than the usual number.

A buttercake to you, Daddy, for transforming a once peaceful living room into a fully functioning train depot.

A buttercake to you, Mommy, for actually answering your phone today even though you have already misplaced it again.

And, a buttercake to you Guinevere for simply being alive.

A buttercake to you, dear reader, and many wishes for a blessed and peaceful new year.

Great Opportunity to Help Orphans!

Hope Ethiopia from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo.

I am so excited about this opportunity from Lifesong for Orphans.
After watching the video this is what came to mind?
1. Is Lifesong hiring because I could dedicate my life to this work?
2. Can we move to Ethiopia and be a physical part of the amazing things that are happening there? Just watching that video made me miss my time in Ethiopia and it also made me eternally grateful for the connection that I have to that land through my son.
3. A small Christmas gift, will turn into something so big if we share it here. No one I know really needs another sweater, but these kids need what they are receiving through this school.

To help build 12 new class rooms, make is so that 420 less students have to be turned away, and make a huge impact on the lives of Ethiopian children that can change the world please visit the Lifesong blog. The video takes a little over two minutes. If nothing else, please watch it and pray!

Here is a little more~  A generous donor is matching up to $130,000!!!

Get your family involved, tell the kids! Eat beans for a week, I don't know! Be a part of this opportunity, be it little or big. Tell me  if you do, or even if you just blog about it. I am so excited to see this goal reached!
