To Sissy Pants:

Dearest Nan Ling Ling,

(Also...Guinivere Nan Ling Ling Brabson)

Today the dude-lings, those are your hilarious and sugary sweet wild brothers,  went Halloween costume shopping with me. Moose ended up with a ninja costume complete with muscles and all despite my obvious disregard. Truth is, he looked adorable and I caved and he is upstairs right now sleeping in his ninja costume. I wonder if he will take it off between now and Halloween.....
Finn tried on a skunk, dog, and bear costume but his head is too big and none of them fit him right.
Anyway, we went shopping and then Finn, who for all purposes might as well be your twin brother as you are so close in age and head size for that matter, was terribly hungry. So we stopped at Panera and shared a meal. The lemonade was delicious. Moose ate all the yogurt and Finn was upset, but he apologized and they gave kisses and then began licking the icing off of their cookies.
At Panera I was thinking of you. A man came over and said to me, "You have two very nice young men."
I smiled. You were on my heart.  I thanked him, agreed that your brothers are in fact two very nice young men and then told him proudly that I had a lovely daughter too. He said I was lucky. He has no idea.

Meanwhile, there you are in China and I miss you even though you have yet to set foot into my home. Your face, the curve of your cheeks, and the rolls of darling chubs on your fingers are already entirely and completely in my heart. I put your brothers to bed today for naps and I cried.
They were happy tears. Things are moving along and soon, soon, soon, we shall be together.

Someday, when you are older, and your voice and smile and spirit are all to familiar in this house I will sit you on my lap and read this to you. I do it now with Moose. He loves to read stories of his adoption. I do it now with Finn. I read him letters I wrote while pregnant too.

Not sure what you are doing today, but know that today...on this ordinary rainy autumn afternoon you have a family and loves you, that covers you in prayer unceasingly, and that is waiting eagerly for you.

You do not know it yet, but I am your Momma. And, oh, do I love you so.

Hold tight little girl.

Momma

ps...your Daddy watched the video of you over and over all weekend long. If you don't mind please consider being a Daddy's girl. He prays for this every night.
