I saw a cute quiet time activity for girls recently involving doll clothes, a line, some clothes line pins, and darling quiet girls playing sweetly. And, I thought how great it will be when Baby G is home to finally start doing some girlie things around this man cave.
But, I could not wait. She probably won't be home until spring.....and the laundry needed to be done before then ! So, I added a few elements and made this activity into something my boys might enjoy.
I set it all out for them outside and as we walked out the back door this Momma waited with fingers crossed.....would they like it?
Two days and hours of outside laundry play later.....here is the answer.
This was a frugal family activity. Earlier in the week I used felt and sewed some very simple doll clothes. I am not a seamstress, but they came out all right! I purchased two packs of clothes line pins, filled two containers with water, and busted out the antique washboard that I usually have hanging as a decoration on the wall. I used yarn to create the clothes line and then.....Momma sat back on the deck chair with some lemonaide and a smile.....
They have done this game two days in a row, so now I am going to put it away for a while to keep it new and fresh. Just like our cleans clothes here........

What a great idea!! Of course, there should be no surprise here that they would love it... ;-) It involves WATER, after all, and all children, boys or girls, love water play!!
Now that you have the clothes pins, another game could involve tossing them into a bucket. Another game involving water would be to give them plain water in buckets and paint brushes to 'paint' the deck. My boys enjoyed both of these games.
By the way, the little clothes you sewed are quite adorable. :-)
adorable :)
