Another Little Man.....

Well, here is the news of the day. We had our 21 week appointment this morning and found out that in addition to having a healthy baby we are also having a boy. Mostly, The Moose is happy that he has another person coming to live with him that will like to play cars, talk about cars, dream of cars, and do everything and anything cars.

No name yet. Any suggestions? (Hahaha!)

Here is a picture of our second son, 21 weeks old, and cute as a button if I may say so myself. These pictures alleviated my concerns that he would enter the world with a full blown set of sideburns like his Grandpa Brabson...whooo!

Blueberry Morning

So far off the beaten path that the GPS thought we were driving off of the road.
We liked that.

We are far from eating only what we grow. Far, far far...from even being close to that. In the mean time we are trying to be more "locavore" concious and support farmers and growers in this area. It is downright fun mostly because we actually get our hands dirty in the process. On Saturday we went blueberry picking at a local farm. For just a couple of bucks and an hour of labor we picked enough blueberries to last us until next season. After bringing them home and eating our fair share we froze them.

The Moose did phenomenal. I was worried. In my head I was envisioning my three year old running wild and picking everything from blueberries to entire branches off of the bushes. We showed him the correct color of blueberry to pick and gosh darn it the little guy did better than me! He snuck a blueberry in his mouth every couple of picks, but I could not complain about that.

Here we are....blueberry picking. Next it is peaches and then apples. Yum!

Jason's hands full of ripe blueberries!

Me (hey, not looking bad for five months pregnant!) and The Moose collecting blueberries.

Gardening Woes....

Ok, so I understand that this is going to reveal that I am an infant gardener and in dire need of a vegetables 101 class...but I have to throw this out there...

Early summer I planted what I thought was cauliflower seeds. They have grown up fine and into hearty, thick green leaved bunches of what I think is actually LETTUCE and not cauliflower. My only thought is that perhaps I am wrong or have my soil acidity way off and thus the cauliflower plants (the cute tasty white part) has just not grown in yet.

Can someone with more knowledge than me regarding this please weigh in on the matter?

The Question: Is this plant a type of LETTUCE or is it CAULIFLOWER?

Seriously. Help.

Here are the pics~

The Flipping of IMP

Every good sailor has a moment when regardless of efforts and elements they find themselves in a bit of a predicamint. My brother had such a moment on Indian Lake a few windy days back. Sailing solo and nearing home he overturned his fourteen foot catamaran and found himself stranded, bobbing up and down in the waves.
I arrived via kayak at the same time a pontoon boat pulled up to offer assistance. In the end it took four men standing together on one side to overturn IMP. The whole ordeal took about thirty minutes and my brother smiled nervously the entire time.
Here are a few pictures of the event taken by my mom from shore, The result of the incident was a couple bent parts, a small tear in the main sail, a one great story.

Picture: IMP overturned, her mast pointing downward toward the bottom of the lake. The sails were full of water and heavy! I was trying to weigh her down while Spencer attempted to reel in the sail...he was underwater in this picture. It was the first attempt to overturn her before more help arrived via wave runner.
